The Independent Blues Broadcasters Association (IBBA) in the UK has announced that March’s IBBA Album of the Month will be the recently issued compilation of tracks from all 18 acts competing at the European Blues Challenge 2014 in Riga, Latvia in April. As is the case with all Albums of the Month, tracks from the compilation album, which is on the Blues Boulevard label, will be featured on members’ radio shows throughout March. Between them, the 29 members of the IBBA broadcast some 123 hours of blues to the UK and beyond each week on a variety of FM and internet platforms around the UK and elsewhere. The IBBA seeks to support, encourage and promote blues music across the UK and to promote blues radio across the UK and worldwide. It also seeks to provide a voice for the many independent, mostly voluntary, blues radio show presenters around the UK and to raise the profile of blues radio in the UK and beyond. Dave Raven, chair of the IBBA, commented: ‘ Both as individuals and as an organisation, the IBBA is very keen to support the European Blues Association and by raising awareness of the EBC and the many talented acts taking part in Riga, including our own David Migden & the Twisted Roots, we hope that more people in the UK will become involved with the EBU and its work. We also hope that, having heard tracks from the contestants of IBBA members’ shows, listeners will want to attend the EBC, either this year in Riga or next year in Brussels. At least two members of the IBBA will be at the EBC this year. A full list showing when and where you can listen to IBBA members’ show is available on the Association’s website – www.bluesbroadcasters.co.uk
