The Mississipi Blues Trail Commission- the highest Blues Authority of the Mississipi State where this music comes from – has decided to reward the Cahors Blues Festival and install a “Mississippi Blues Trail Marker” on the site where the Festival was created. This decision has been taken to acknowledge the work done for 33 years by the team of volunteers of the Cahors Blues Festival Association. This Festival is the oldest Blues Festival in France, dedicated to promote the Mississippi Blues Music and its values. France is the second country outside the USA after Norway – with the Notodden Blues Festival – to be awarded this distinction usually reserved to mark the places where iconic blues musicians were born, frequently played , recorded music or are buried.
