Bluesfest Eutin 2024 – Supporting the European Blues Scene

Once again in 2024, Roser and Fred from the European Blues Union (EBU) Board attended Bluesfest Eutin in Germany, a free blues festival that celebrated its 33rd edition in 2024.

Based in Eutin, Schleswig-Holstein, Bluesfest Eutin has established itself as an important meeting point for the European blues community. Each year, the festival attracts artists, audiences and media representatives from Germany and other European countries, including Latvia, Poland, Norway, Spain and France.

Bluesfest Eutin and the European Blues Scene

Every evening, concerts take place in front of audiences of more than 2,000 people, with a programme that places a strong focus on artists from the European blues scene and musicians who have previously participated in the European Blues Challenge (EBC) and International Blues Challenge (IBC).

The 2024 festival programme featured a diverse selection of blues artists from across Europe, including:

  • Sahra da Silva – Denmark, EBC 2022

  • The Sunnysiders – Croatia, IBC 2011

  • Amiya – Poland

  • Blue Deal – Germany, IBC/EBC 2024

  • Noa & The Hell Drinkers – Spain, EBC Winner 2023

  • Marius Lien Band – Norway

  • From Brothers Band – Sweden

The festival also makes its concerts available to a wider audience through live radio broadcasts on RockRadio.de, extending the reach of European blues artists beyond the festival venue in Eutin.

A Showcase for European Blues Artists

Bluesfest Eutin provides a valuable example of how European festivals can support the mobility and visibility of artists from across the continent.

Its programme demonstrates the potential of European blues festivals to connect audiences with artists from different countries, while creating opportunities for musicians who have emerged through European and international blues competitions and networks.

Artists from the United States and Canada are, of course, an important and welcome part of the European blues community. At the same time, festivals such as Bluesfest Eutin demonstrate how a strong programme can also give substantial space to the rich and diverse talent that exists within Europe.

Supporting Cross-Border Mobility in European Blues

The European Blues Union supports the cross-border mobility of European blues artists and encourages collaboration between festivals, music organizations and blues professionals across the European Union and beyond.

Initiatives and partnerships that connect festivals and artists from different European countries can contribute to a stronger, more interconnected **European blues ecosystem.
