Eutin Blues Festival 2026

EBU Representatives Attend the 35th BluesFest Eutin, Celebrating European Blues Excellence

At the end of May, two European Blues Union (EBU) Board Members, Roser and Fred, attended the 35th edition of BluesFest Eutin in northern Germany, further strengthening the long-standing relationship between the festival and the wider European blues community. Their presence highlighted the importance of international collaboration in promoting blues music across Europe and supporting emerging and established artists from different countries.

Over the years, BluesFest Eutin has earned a reputation as one of Germany’s most respected blues festivals, attracting music lovers, industry professionals, and talented performers from across the continent. A defining feature of the festival is its commitment to showcasing European blues artists, offering a platform for musicians who represent the richness, diversity, and evolution of the genre.

The 2025 edition once again demonstrated this strong European focus through a carefully curated lineup that included three bands with a direct connection to the European Blues Challenge (EBC), the flagship event organized by the European Blues Union. The festival welcomed the French band Shaggy Dogs, participants in the European Blues Challenge held in Toulouse in 2013, the Polish Silesian Hammond Group, who represented Poland at the 2024 European Blues Challenge in Braga, and the German Sean Athens Band, selected for the 2026 edition in Katowice.

Each of these bands brought a unique musical identity to the festival stage, reflecting the broad spectrum of styles that characterize today’s European blues scene. From energetic rhythm and blues influences to modern interpretations rooted in traditional blues foundations, their performances demonstrated the creativity and artistic quality that continue to drive the genre forward across Europe.

The participation of former and future European Blues Challenge artists underlined the vital role that the EBC plays in connecting musicians, festivals, promoters, and audiences throughout the continent. Events such as BluesFest Eutin provide invaluable opportunities for artists to reach new listeners, build international networks, and contribute to the growth of the European blues movement.

As BluesFest Eutin celebrated its 35th anniversary, the festival once again confirmed its status as an important meeting point for blues enthusiasts and professionals alike. By maintaining a strong commitment to European programming and cultural exchange, the festival continues to support the development of blues music while fostering cooperation between countries, organizations, and artists.

The presence of EBU representatives and European Blues Challenge participants at this landmark edition perfectly reflected the festival’s mission: promoting high-quality blues music, encouraging international connections, and celebrating the vibrant future of the European blues community.
