Little Steven’s Blues School Brings Young International Blues Musicians to Notodden

Monday was anything but an ordinary Monday in Notodden, Norway. It marked the start of Little Steven’s Blues School, where 20 young musicians aged between 15 and 26 from Portugal, Croatia, Sweden, the United States and Norway gathered for breakfast ahead of the programme’s official kick-off.

The excitement was unmistakable. It was fantastic to see these young musicians arrive in Notodden, ready to immerse themselves in the blues, exchange musical experiences and build connections with fellow students and established artists.

But there is more to Little Steven’s Blues School than learning about the blues and networking. These emerging talents will also have the opportunity to perform live at the Notodden Blues Festival on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, bringing their passion and energy to one of Europe’s renowned blues events.

Little Steven’s Blues School is led by experienced musician Espen Fjelle, one of the founders of the Notodden Blues Festival. Under his guidance, the programme offers young musicians an opportunity to develop their skills, deepen their understanding of the blues and connect with an international community of artists.

The school’s venue is equally inspiring, featuring excellent musical equipment and an atmosphere filled with blues energy. It provides an ideal setting for the next generation of blues musicians to learn, collaborate and prepare for their performances at the festival.

As Little Steven’s Blues School gets underway, Notodden once again becomes a meeting point for blues culture, musical discovery and the next generation of international blues talent.
