Connecting. Inspiring. Growing Together.
The EBU Women’s Circle is a collaborative initiative of the European Blues Union, created to connect, support, and celebrate women active throughout the European blues community.
The Circle’s mission is to bring together women involved in the blues scene in every capacity — artists, festival organisers, promoters, journalists, photographers, educators, volunteers, board members, and everyone whose work helps keep the blues alive and thriving across Europe.
Our belief is simple: when people connect, share experiences, and support one another, stronger communities are built.
Rather than being a formal organisation, the EBU Women’s Circle is a welcoming platform for dialogue, networking, mentoring, and collaboration. It provides opportunities to exchange ideas, learn from one another, build new international relationships, and inspire future generations of women working in and around the blues.
Our Vision
We aspire to create an open and inclusive community where women from different countries, backgrounds, generations, and professional experiences can:
- build meaningful connections across Europe;
- share knowledge and experiences;
- inspire and mentor one another;
- develop new collaborations;
- increase the visibility of women throughout the European blues scene;
- contribute to the continued growth and diversity of the European Blues Union.
The EBU Women’s Circle is founded on the values of openness, equality, mutual respect, collaboration, and inclusivity. We believe that every perspective adds value and that diversity strengthens our community.
Our Activities
The Circle will develop organically in response to the interests and needs of its members. Planned activities include:
- informal networking and community building;
- international mentoring circles;
- practical workshops and educational sessions;
- discussions on topics relevant to women working in the blues community;
- collaborative projects and initiatives;
- regular gatherings during EBU events, including the European Blues Challenge.
First Gathering
We are delighted to announce that the first EBU Women’s Circle gathering will take place during the European Blues Challenge, which is scheduled to take place in Vila do Conde, Portugal April 8-10.2027.
This first chapter of the Circle will be an opportunity to meet one another, exchange experiences, build new connections, and discuss ideas for the future development of the Circle. Together, we hope to identify opportunities for collaboration and explore ways of strengthening the presence, visibility, and contribution of women throughout the European blues community.
Whether you are an artist, organiser, journalist, promoter, volunteer, or involved in blues in any other capacity, you are warmly invited to join us.
